Katy Perry's 'Roar' is a rip off of Sara Bareilles's 'Brave'

Does Katy Perry’s new single “Roar” (Capitol) sound familiar? Those laid-back, “Hard Knock Life”-like synths, the midtempo rhythm track, the sweeping production on the chorus – it all sounds an awful lot like Sara Bareilles’ recent single “Brave,” which arrived four months ago.
The Internet is now teeming with side-by-side comparisons, though this version from Portkey’s Tumblr, which beat matches the songs and puts one on top of the other, is pretty definitive about the similarities. To be fair, the chord progressions differ and the lyrics from Bareilles, with help fromfun.’s Jack Antonoff, are far more uplifting and real than Perry and Team Perry, which includes Dr. Luke and Max Martin.
Of course, this will hardly matter in the long run. Perry is already well on her way to another No. 1, despite numerous throwaway lines like, “You held me down, but I got up.” She will launch the song -- the first single from her "Prism" album, due out Oct. 22 -- at MTV's Video Music Awards at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Aug. 25.

Fucking Morons running the record business

Robin Thicke is enjoying a pop culture moment with the upbeat Marvin Gaye-esque single "Blurred Lines," but the song didn't click with his record label when he previewed it last summer.

"The record company didn't get it. They didn't even pay for the video. They didn't want to support it at all. Remy Martin paid for the video," said the 36-year-old crooner, who is a spokesperson for the liquor brand with his wife, actress Paula Patton.
Get out of hear you clueless ass clowns.
The ubiquitous "Blurred Lines" is the longest-running No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this year with nine weeks on top. The video – the unrated version with nude models prowling was banned from YouTube – has more than 125 million views. The title track from Thicke's fifth album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart this week after selling 177,000 copies units, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Mumford & Sons - Hopeless Wanderer

Check out the awesomeness that is the new Mumford and Sons music video for Hopeless Wanderer  starring  Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Ed Helms and Will Forte to fill in for them. In the video, the four comedians are dressed similarly to the way the band dresses - in vests and suspenders - and are seen playing instruments and lip syncing.

Will.I.Am stealing more musical ideas.

It must suck not to have any of your own ideas....

Will.i.am rips off Arty and Mat Zo’s ‘Rebound’ for latest single

william-freshy-lets-go
Will.i.am’s fourth studio album, #willpower, indicates strong electro-pop influences with lead singles including the Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello produced “This Is Love” and the Basto written “Scream & Shout.” Other than these collaborators, Will.I.Am had no other EDM producers come to his aid — at least to their knowledge. Today, Will’s VEVO uploaded the fifth track from the album, “Let’s Go” alongside Chris Brown, and the preview has the dance music community up in arms.  ”Let’s Go” appears to be a blatant ripoff of Arty and Mat Zo‘s Anjunabeats release, “Rebound,” and not just a sample, the entire track. Listen for yourself after the break.

Problems

Calvin Coolidge

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race” - Calvin Coolidge

M83′s Oblivion Motion Picture Soundtrack

After moving to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of soundtrack work, M83’s Anthony Gonzalez finally scored… big. With the success of six albums under his belt, Gonzalez was tapped by director Joseph Kosinski to set the musical tone for Oblivion, the big budget sci-fi flick starring Tom Cruise, which opens April 19.
“I’ve wanted to do soundtracks for so long, and starting with such an ambitious project, especially in the sci-fi category, means a lot to me,” he told The Playlist last summer. “My vision is really to have a combination of very electronic moments, very M83, and sometimes merge into something more soundtrack-y, but my kind of soundtracks.”
Check out the entire soundtrack free after the jump.

10 Must Try Software Plug-ins for producers

10. Despite having been around for quite some time, PSPaudioware’s VintageWarmer has rightfully earned its place among the plug-in elite. Acting as a single or multi-band limiter, compressor, and analog-modeled saturator, VintageWarmer is a quick and easy solution to fatten up individual tracks, groups, or even your entire mix. The latest installer includes three slightly different versions of the plug-in: PSP MicroWarmer, PSP VintageWarmer (LE), and the newer PSPVintageWarmer2, which includes a double-sampling mode generally recommended for mastering purposes.

9. No plug-in list would be complete without an equalizer, and for us, FabFilter’s Pro-Q is the ultimate weapon of choice. It doesn’t have any groundbreakingly unique features, but the elegant user interface, tasteful color contrasts, and smooth sound are more than enough to make Pro-Q stand out on its own. Throw in up to 24 bands of control and you’ve got pretty much everything you could ask for in a modern digital equalizer.

Peace out M.C.R.

My Chemical Romance have split up.
After a dozen years and four popular studio albums, the platinum-record band announcedvia a brief post on their website “it has come time for it to end.”
Here’s the full message:
Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing. We’ve gotten to go places we never knew we would. We’ve been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We’ve shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure. My Chemical Romance

Failure

I have to be honest when I say that despite any successes I may have, I feel like I fail constantly. The music business can be brutal at times. Everything you create is scrutinized on every level by everyone. I don't know how many times I've tried and failed. How many times I've been rejected by important people in the business. It's not an easy thing to swallow. Not for me anyway. However I keep at it. Too dumb to quit I guess. I try unsuccessful things everyday. I have so many garbage tracks I would never want anyone to hear that its comical. However, for me its a numbers game. I know that if I keep making music, some of them will be good, great even... I keep at it. All the greats have failed and they've failed a lot. I'm not saying I'm great, far from it. But if I don't quit and keep at it, someday I could be.

Foy Vance - Be The Song (iTunes Release)

I saw the movie "Warm Bodies" this weekend and was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed the movie as well as the songs used in the movie. When I heard this song it gave me goosebumps. I'd have to track it down. Unfortunately there wasn't a soundtrack released that I could find. I did a little more internet digging and found a list of songs used in the movie and discovered the amazing songwriter Foy Vance. Foy is from Belfast and apparently this song has been used in loads of tv shows, trailers, movie, etc. I guess I'm a little late to the party.

The power of a simple melody and a beautiful voice can't be overstated. This song moves me. Foy Vance - Be The Song
